But is Eva a very sick, paranoid woman who never gave Kevin a chance? Absolutely. Was Kevin a difficult child/baby? For sure. This story is told entirely from the perspective of a woman who didn't love her son and assumed him of evil intentions since he was in the womb. In fact once in the book it is proven that one of her terrible assumptions about Kevin is incorrect (but she is too prideful to have admitted it at the time) - but none of her assumptions are ever actually proven *true*. But aside from the massacre itself, all of the "evil" things she accuses Kevin of doing are either not very evil (painting the walls? SO MANY kids do that), or happen off screen and thus are never proven to have been done by Kevin at all.
